Work is progressing here at Esskaye Books. We make no secret that we are a new company and the website is fairly sparse at the moment. This is changing, and the site is being constantly improved and updated and you can have your say to help steer the business.
Leaving a comment on a blog post (just below the title up there) is the easiest way, or can send an email to email@example.com
We look forward to hearing from you!
We have recently made cosmetic adjustments to the site which (if all has gone well) should be unobtrusive but a page we hope you have noticed is our MERCHANDISE page!
Our merchandise is fulfilled by Teespring so you can be sure of the quality of the merch and the reliability of delivery. The range is constantly expanding (did we mention constant improvement?)
The team over here at Esskaye is small and constantly learning', so expect big things to come on all fronts!
Esskaye Books is getting impatient! Olverston Grange ...and Other Stories is complete, and ready to launch but waiting for the new tax year to begin in April. But we're not twiddling our thumbs! Work on our second book, a full-length, children's story, is under way and initial talks with our (potential) first 'outside' author have taken place.
All of this is boding well :)
Esskaye Books is proud to be independent. This business is founded on some basic foundations.
1) Be self-funding.
Already, this has proven to be a problem as the business is currently funded out of my pocket but, importantly, it is my money and it's just a loan. Unlike banks I will not be charging interest.
2) The work belongs to the creator.
Esskaye Books will expect an exclusivity period, then copyright returns to the author, or an outright purchase will be made. A price is negotiated with cover artists and paid promptly - a deal for merchandising percentage will be negotiated.
3) We pay our way.
Esskaye Books does, and will always, pay the taxes it owes.
Just sayin' - M. Leon Smith
The first promotion of Esskaye Books took place on Facebook and I so humbled by the number of people who joined the page. Many thanks to everyone who joined and an extra special thanks to everyone who shared the page :)
Work on the second book from Esskaye is underway and we will be requesting submissions for novels/novelettes in June or July.
Thanks for you support and spread the word!
Following ten years of writing for others, M. Leon Smith has accomplished what he thought impossible or, at least, highly improbable!
The artwork to Olverston Grange ...and Other Stories is fantastic and Nicole Mitchinson, the talented artist responsible, has (finally) launched a Facebook page for her artwork.Go visit her page and support a new emerging talent!
