All has been quiet from Esskaye Books for a while but we are still here and supplying top-class fiction and building a platform for independent authors to tell us about themselves.
Drop us an email with a .txt or .doc file, along with any images you would like to include. This chance to advertise yourself is FREE so remember to be entertaining and try to keep the content PG.
The first two phases of Esskaye Books' plan are live(ish). We are just waiting for the posts from the writers! Part three is almost complete and it will be exciting for authors and readers alike. Esskaye Books is a place to be independent but not alone...
Esskaye Books are looking for independent or self- published authors! The wilderness contains an almost untapped wealth of talented writers of all ages, races, and styles anxious to be read. We are creating a platform for them to be heard!
Readers can help too! If you have found a writer everyone NEEDS to know about then drop them an email and point then in our direction :)
RUNNING A BOOK COMPANY
My name is Marcus but when I write I go by the pen name of M. Leon Smith. I have been an avid reader for all of my life and began writing seriously in 2009 and I now know enough about writing to know I will never run out of things to learn.
Since childhood, I dreamed of seeing my name on the cover of a book but, as I have told in the past, did nothing about it. When I eventually started to write I thought getting my work published would be enough for me and, although each acceptance was exciting, I wanted more.
After some time in the 'writing game' (if I can be so crass to call it that) I became part of a book company. Dead Guns Press specialise in publishing crime fiction 'Noir fiction for a new Era' as the company proudly states. And, for years, DGP scratched my itch to be involved with the creation of books,
During a bout of illness, I became very aware of mortality (I wasn't that ill lol) and decided to get serious about starting a book company.
I had tried self-publishing with the original version of 'Olverston Grange ...and Other Stories' which was published only as an eBook, sold a couple of copies, then disappeared. The name I gave the company was 'Skinned Knuckles', due to my awful wheelchair driving skills and the flesh I lost because of them.
My second go at creating a book company led to 'Esskaye Book' (see what I did there?) This company has a much grander plan. So far I have rewritten 'Olverston Grange ...and Other Stories' and published it as both paperback and eBook. Esskaye Books has also released 'The Blue Jackets' that had previously appeared as a trilogy of short stories but now read as they were always meant to, have almost completed the follow-up to 'The Blue Jackets'. Discussions have begun with some other independent authors to get them onto the company's roster.
Today I need to make some minor graphical changes to the website, write this blog, write a chapter or two of the new book, research some avenues to promote the company is, and promote in others.
Start a book company, they said. It'll be fun, they said. You're right, I replied.
